What is the UGT?
The UGT (Usenet Good Traders) is an Internet sports cards good
trader group. The UGT verifies good trader references sent in via
an online application form, and then assigns a UGT rating based
on the number of valid references.
Who can get on the list?
Anyone who meets the minimum requirements via verification by
e-mail or online application
Is there a charge to apply to or join
the UGT?
No fees are associated with membership or applying for membership

Minimum requirements to get on the list:
There are no minimum age requirements. (Those under 18 are be
listed with an '*')
UGT 1
- 10 total references from 10 different
individuals.
- No more than 3 references from any one
domain (AOL, Prodigy, etc.). No more than 1 reference from free-email
services (hotmail, yahoo, etc.). References who are UGT members do not
count toward these limits.
- All deals (Buy/Sell/Trade) must be a
minimum $10 US per occurrence.
- At least one confirmed deal which occurred
at least 2 months ago (i.e., applicant must verify that s/he has been
trading at least 2 months).
UGT 2
- 20 total references from 20 different
individuals.
- No more than 5 references from any one
domain. No more than 2 references from free-email services. References
who are UGT Members do not count toward these limits.
- All deals (Buy/Sell/Trade) must be a
minimum $10 US per occurrence.
- At least one confirmed deal which occurred
at least 4 months ago (i.e., applicant must verify that s/he has been
trading at least 4 months).
UGT 3
- 25 total references from 25 different
individuals.
- No more than 6 references from any one
domain. No more than 3 references from free-email services. References
who are UGT Members do not count toward these limits.
- 20 deals (Buy/Sell/Trade) must be a minimum
$10 US per occurrence.
- 5 deals (Buy/Sell/Trade) must be a minimum
$50 US per occurrence. None of the $50+ references can be from
free-email services.
- At least one confirmed deal which occurred
at least 6 months ago (i.e., applicant must verify that s/he has been
trading at least 6 months).
After minimum requirements are met:
- A check on DejaNews will be done to see if
anyone has posted you as a bad trader or if you have committed any
removal offense (see below).
- If the check is negative, you will be added
to the list. If the check is positive, attempts will be made to contact
the parties involved to determine eligibility for the list.
Items which will be included on the
list:
- Name
- E-mail address
- UGT level
- Website (if any)
- The symbol '*' to indicate those people who
have stated via e-mail that they are 18 years old or younger.
- The marking 'CMT' to indicate those people
who are UGT Committee members.

Offenses for removal from UGT list:
- Ripping someone off, defined as not
sending the advertised card(s) in the advertised condition
(includes not sending card(s) at all, of course)
- Reneging on promised deals, trades,
or auction bidding
- Being convicted of a hobby-related crime
- Breaking rec.sport.collecting.* Usenet

Offenses for suspension
from UGT list:
- Being charged with hobby-related crime
- Being accused by multiple parties of
removal offenses
Removal from UGT list:
- Both accuser and accused will have the
opportunity to state, via e-mail, what happened
- Committee members
will vote on removal, based on the evidence; there must be a majority
in order to remove someone from the list
- Once removed, a
member may apply for re-instatement only if all bad deals have been
resolved; re-application starts from scratch
